And it's all in the way they are made. Every hand-towel, napkin and tablecloth is hand woven on a back strap or pedal loom, a technique brought to Mexico by the Spanish. The cotton cloth has a beautiful heavy weight and is thick and hard wearing. The central seams and edges of the larger cloths are all stitched by hand and it really makes a difference. Wash them over and over again and they still look fantastic. (Especially if you give them a steam iron).
We work with one of the oldest women's cooperatives based in Chiapas, Mexico. They set their own prices and the money goes directly to supporting the women and their families. Quite frankly we don't know any better tablelinen made in any better way ....even if we do say so ourselves !
