“Our primary focus is to work with crafts people and crafts communities to bring beautiful and unusual pieces to our customers. Colour and quality of craftsmanship is at the heart of everything that we do. Textiles and traditional crafts have been a lifelong passion of ours and we are incredibly lucky to work alongside these fantastic makers.“
Montes & Clark was founded by Kate Clark and Lucy Montes five years ago and started with a strong desire to bring the crafts of Mexico to the UK with a particular emphasis on working with Woman’s Co-operatives and the vibrant textiles of the country. The embroidery of the Otomi tribe and the woven fabrics of Chapas were and still are a key part of our identity and ethos, a passion for textiles, craftsmanship and ethical trade.
After two years Lucy took a step back to focus on her work as a Climate Change Campaigner and Consultant. Emily Pinsent joined the business and since then we have expanded our collections working collaboratively with makers in Ghana, India, Italy, France, Portugal and the UK. We work hard to find crafts people across the world and to bring their work and skills to a wider audience who appreciate and understand the value and importance of traditional crafted and sustainably produced pieces for the home.
We hope that through our collections you can experience our passion for the vibrancy of handmade objects.
