Jolom Mayaetik, a women’s cooperative in Chiapas employs and educates many members of the community, not only in the skills needed for pedal loom weaving but in the tools they would need to run a business as well as supporting them as women within their community. They also work directly with many women in rural communities travelling to them in order to commission and pick up the embroidered and back-strap woven textiles that they have created .
